One of the only activities that has kept each of my kids entertained for long periods of time has been playdough!
Playdough is fantastic for little hands to develop their fine motor skills and strengthen finger muscles. It fosters a sense of imagination and creativity. This playdough recipe is tried and true! It uses natural ingredients (no nasties!) and is so affordable. An all-around winner!
My daughter loves pink and purple so we wanted to try to make her favourite colour playdough! Instead of using food dye (which can contain chemicals) we used blueberries to create a beautiful colour!
2 cups plain flour 2 cups water 1/2 cup blueberries (or more for an even brighter colour) 1 cup salt 4 tbsp cream of tartar 2 tbsp coconut oil
Add blueberries and water to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Strain blueberries and reserve the hot water. (Save blueberries to eat with yogurt later!)
Add dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl. Mix well.
Add coconut oil to hot water. Slowly pour in hot purple water (be careful as it will be hot) to dry ingredients. Mix well.
When the playdough is cool to touch, take out of the bowl and knead.
Postpartum is a wild time… you’re in a baby bubble, flooded with so much oxytocin yet you’ve never been so exhausted. You are getting to know this tiny human that you brought into the world but you’re still discovering who you are as a mother. You have a deep sense of love that came so naturally but you also feel like maybe you don’t really know what you’re doing. So many beautiful paradoxes make up that post birth period.
Ah, bath time with your little bundle of joy – it's a splashy adventure filled with giggles, bubbles, and a whole lot of cuteness! Orrrr depending on the day, it could be a screaming, get it over as quick as possible nightmare! You just never know with babies haha! We do know this for certain, that our bath time essentials make whatever kind of bath time it is easier.
