Frequently Asked Questions

Can I compost your nappies?
It is impossible to offer an eco-disposable nappy that performs well without having to still use some components with plastic. Our Panda nappies and pull ups are no less than 85% biodegradable. PLEASE NOTE that you are not supposed to compost faeces so we recommend you dispose of our nappies in the normal rubbish instead. If you were to you would need to remove the plastic tabs and tape the tabs adhere to, and the elastic in the leg cuffs.
How easily can Luv Me nappies and Wipes break down in land fill?
Landfill sites are getting much better in their designs with stricter regulations. Each individual landfill site is different and can affect how quickly or long our nappy takes to breakdown like any other rubbish. The levels of oxygen present or not present can vary as each site can be managed differently. Rubbish can be circulated with machinery to ensure degradation is occurring and things like vermin and bacteria found at landfill sites will also help to break down nappies. Some of these newer sites promote biodegradation through injecting water, oxygen and microbes. It is an important fact that a product you dispose of that contains mostly biodegradable ingredient such as our products then it will break down much faster compared to a conventional baby nappy and products full of plastics. Our Panda pull ups and nappies are also made from bamboo which naturally is biodegradable fibre making our Panda nappies and pull ups at no less than 85% biodegradable the perfect eco nappy available!
Where are your nappies made?
Luvme is our own family brand that we created 10 years ago now. We developed our product in Australia and we get the bamboo fibre from plantations in USA and our sap is Sumuito Sap from Japan these ingredients are then sent to our manufacturer in China and our products are made there under our own trademark brand Luvme. So our brand of Luvme products come from all over the world.

Is there a certain way I need to wash the bamboo cloth nappies the first time?
Yes, we do have recommendations on how to care for your cloth nappies to ensure better absorbency and also long lasting. Please see below guidelines.
Washing Instructions
IMPORTANT: do not wash in hot or warm water and do not use dryer.
• Hot tip – wash 2-3 times before using to get better absorbency
Washing
• Flush the soiled liner.
• Rinse any liners and place in a dry nappy bucket.
• Rinse the nappy and place in nappy bucket.
• Wash within 2 days.
• Soaking is not recommended. Soaking agents can damage the waterproof coating.
• Do not wash in hot water as this can damage the waterproof coating.
• However soaking of the bamboo inserts would be okay in napisan but not bleach.
• Machine rinse before washing in cold water using ½ strength detergent on a full load.
• Line drying is best. The sun’s UV rays kill bacteria and fade stains. Best of all: it’s FREE.
• Use Low heat when tumble drying.
Deep Cleaning
• Do a full cold wash cycle with no detergents.
• Next mix a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid into a sink full of hot tap water.
• Cheap dishwashing detergent without moisturizers or conditioners are the best.
• Gently massage the detergent into the inner lining of each nappy.
• Do another full cold wash cycle with no detergents.
• A deep clean every couple of months will maintain absorbency.
I am a first-time buyer of cloth nappies. How many do I need to buy for a starter kit?
A new mum would look at purchasing 20 to 24 cloth nappies with extra 10 inserts as you will use 2 x inserts in the nappies at night for extra absorbency. And if you put an insert on the outside of the nappy and only the insert gets dirty you only must wash the insert not the entire nappy therefore you would go through more inserts than nappies.
You change a new baby on average 6-7 times per day and wash every second day or daily depending on time of course.
What are bamboo cloth nappies and inserts made of?
The inside lining of a bamboo cloth nappy is bamboo, so this is the part touching bubs skin hence why these cloth nappies are so great for bubs sensitive skin.
The outer shell is polyester and has a waterproof lining which means you don't have to purchase an extra cover.
The insert is made of bamboo fibres.
It looks like I am getting mold spots on my cloth nappies. How can I get rid of this?
Mould is created by a damp environment. Please ensure your cloth nappies are thoroughly dry before storing or putting away. Make sure the storage area is well ventilated. I would recommend a deep clean for the spotted ones to remove spots then dry in natural sunlight.
Below is the washing instructions for your reference.
Deep Cleaning
• Do a full cold wash cycle with no detergents.
• Next mix a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid into a sink full of hot tap water.
• Cheap dishwashing detergent without moisturizers or conditioners are the best.

How do I use a swim nappy?
Instruction for application of a swim nappy is as follows:
- Open swim nappy by unclipping snaps.
- Lay on safe flat surface.
- Position baby/toddler on swim nappy.
- Firmly lift centre of swim nappy between legs and clip snaps closed at a comfortable position.
- Proceed to clip snaps closed each side of swim nappy also at a comfortable position.
How do I wash swim nappy?
If baby/toddler soils swim nappy, gently remove reusable swim nappy, flush the poo poos and rinse swim nappy under water.
Your swim nappy is now ready to use again.
At end of day you may wash the swim nappy on gentle cold-water cycle in wash bag. Then line dry.
IMPORTANT: do not wash in hot or warm water and do not use dryer.
What are your swim nappies made of?
Polyester with a PUL lining
Do I need to also use an insert with my swim nappy?
Our Luvme swim nappies are designed for catching the poo poos as they are lined with a mesh and yes, they really do catch them as I used them with my bub when she was only 1 month old, and they even catch the runny ones hehe. You don’t need to purchase an insert as they are not designed to catch the wee wees just the poo poos. You will find other swim nappies that say they catch the wee wees don’t. As soon as you put bub in the water they just absorb the pool water. I am sure you will love these I use them every week with my bub at swimming lessons.
Why should I use swim nappies apposed to disposable swim nappies?
If a parent or carer is using a disposable swim nappy, we must be aware as soon as the disposable swim nappy hits the water the gel inside this disposable nappy is released into the water and the baby is swallowing these gel particles.
A swim nappy is great for the environment as it is reusable and ecofriendly. These reusable swim nappies are washable, quick-drying and adjustable and are a great savings as you can use this nappy from baby to toddler. If your baby soils, simply take your child out of the pool and rinse out their Luvme Swim Nappy it’s that easy. Quality product for long lasting durability. Easy to put on and off baby.
Can I flush your flushable liners in the toilet if I have a septic tank?
Our bamboo flushable liners are not suitable for septic as there is allot of different types of septic, so we can’t guarantee this. Sorry. The liners are not as thin as tissue paper and much stronger too, so I would not put them in your septic thanks. You can however put them in your compost bin.
Why are your wipes not flushable?
Our bamboo wet wipes are biodegradable and compostable but are not flushable as they would need to be thin like tissue to be able to flush. Our wet wipes are soft yet super strong and are moistened with aloa vera and vitamin and no nasty chemicals.
We sell these to hundreds of childcare centres, so they have been tried and tested on bubs with skin allergies making them perfect for bubs sensitive skin plus the added bonus of being biodegradable.
Why should I choose Bamboo?
- Bamboo is highly absorbent, absorbing up to three times its weight in water, clearly distinguishing it.
- Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic and ideal for sensitive skin. Bamboo fibre is naturally smooth and round without chemical treatment, meaning there are no sharp spurs or harsh chemicals which may irritate the skin.
- Bamboo has excellent natural antibacterial and deodorising properties, therefore if left damp will not start to smell, unlike cotton, etc.
- Bamboo is an environmentally friendly resource.
- It grows incredibly rapidly and, unlike cotton, thrives without the use of harmful chemical pesticides.
- Bamboo does not require large amounts of water and will grow in dry Australian conditions. It regenerates naturally, does not need replanting, has excellent soil retention properties and helps to prevent soil erosion.
- Bamboo fabric can be 100% biodegraded in soil by microorganisms and sunlight. The decomposition process does not cause any pollution in the environment.
I own a store; do you offer wholesale prices and what is your policy?
Yes absolutely, the more people we can get on board selling our eco-friendly products the better this world will be as we have to remember our planet is left to our babies. Please contact kendall@luvme.eco for a stockist application form and our wholesale catalogue. Once you are approved you will receive an email confirming this and our wholesale agreement.
Will your Pandas by Luvme Bamboo Biodegradable Nappies and Pull ups break down in landfill as landfill compacts everything?
Yes you are right that landfill does compact everything down so it won't be able to biodegrade like it would if you compost them. Each landfill can also vary with how much they compress, how much sunlight and water gets in too. This is all factors as to how long something will biodegrade so its really hard to put an exact time frame on it.
Here is a great article on composting our biodegradable nappies - https://greenopedia.com/biodegradable-diapers/
I love in this article this point as this is another great reason why our Pandas by Luvme Bamboo Biodegradable Nappies and Pull ups are a better choice.
Biodegradable diapers are still the preferred choice of disposables for both the baby and the environment, since they are not manufactured with petrochemicals or other eco-unfriendly materials or skin irritants.
Another important thing to remember is that our nappies are made from bamboo a natural fibre and don't have all the plastics that go into other nappies which when they are being manufactured put allot of chemicals in the air from the factories. So you are doing a better thing using our nappies for these reasons too.
Here is another great article - https://www.theguardian.com/environment/blog/2010/apr/26/nappy-debate
Which is saying that a biodegradable nappy can take up to 50 years to break down which is much better than over 500 years like other disposable nappies full of plastic so that is definitely still better.
Are your products exclusively your brand? Are you happy with the quality control?
These are great questions and rest assured that Luvme is our own family brand that we created 10 years ago now. We developed our product in Australia and we get the bamboo fibre from plantations in USA and our sap is Sumuito Sap from Japan these ingredients are then sent to our manufacturer in China and our products are made there under our own trademark brand Luvme. So I guess you can say our products come from all over the world!
Yes I have been to china and visited the manufacturer and personally seen with my own eyes our products being made and I have to say I am so impressed with the quality control and cleanliness of how they make our products. Also the staff are extremely friendly and seem very happy in their amazing high standard work environment which far exceeded what I expected.
So I can 100% guarantee to you that our products are our own and the way in which they are made I can not fault at all.
